Everbridge: California SB 261 – Climate Risk Disclosure Deadline Approaching! California SB 261 requires climate-risk disclosures by January 2026. Most companies aren’t ready. Everbridge Climate Risk Assessment and Risk Intelligence help organizations identify climate hazards, quantify asset-level exposure, and strengthen continuity planning—key components for TCFD-aligned reporting. Key Points:

  • No extension to the Jan. 1, 2026 deadline; only “good-faith effort” leniency expected. Everbridge Climate Risk Assessment supports “good-faith” preparation through scenario-based hazard modeling.
  • Reports must align with TCFD (Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures)—challenging for companies new to climate risk assessments. Everbridge maps climate risks to physical assets to simplify required disclosures.
  • Data gaps, supplier engagement, and emissions collection remain major bottlenecks. Everbridge Risk Intelligence centralizes global risk information for reporting.
